Negroamaro Puglia IGT
There are two schools of thought on the origin of the name Negroamaro: the first is that it would refer to the dark color of the variety and its strong and decisive flavor (although we should not take “amaro” literally since it is a grape variety from southern Italy, an area known for the production of mature red wines with high levels of sugar).
The second school of thought uses a Latin-Greek interpretation and says that it means “dark black” (from Latin niger and Greek mavros), a reference to the intense color of this wine.
